About Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality
On the country of South Africa's Eastern Cape Province's east coast is a metropolitan municipality called Buffalo City. It includes the townships of Mdantsane and Zwelitsha as well as the cities of East London, Bhisho, and King William's Town.
The Buffalo River, which has South Africa's only riverport, inspired the municipality's name. The municipality was established as a local municipality in 2000 following the restructuring of municipal areas in South Africa. It was transferred to a metropolitan municipality in May 2011 after being removed from the Amathole District Municipality. The region has a well-known manufacturing base with a focus on the auto sector.
Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality Bursary 2022
You have the opportunity to apply for the Mayoral Bursary Fund for the 2020–2021 academic year from Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality. The development of local communities and the expansion of human capital are goals of its mission.
The scholarship fund is intended for students from historically underprivileged backgrounds who are willing to begin applying as early as 2021. It covers the following needs for students who benefit from it:
- Tuition fees
- Registration fees
- Cost of prescribed books
- Cost of studying materials
- Accommodation fees
It should be noted that successful applicants must enroll in any accredited South African Tertiary Institution. Find an institution based in the Eastern Cape by 2022, when it will begin to take effect. To have a good chance of receiving the bursary, you must be admitted to a TVET college.
Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality Bursary 2021 Requirements and Eligibility
Ensure you meet the following minimum application requirements before applying for the bursary. If you don't meet any of these requirements, your application won't be taken into account.
- You must be a South African citizen.
- You must be a resident of Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality
- Present proof of residence during your application
- You should provide a document showing proof of income from your family's household
- It is a mandate that you be open to the idea of working in Buffalo City upon completion of your studies
- You achieved a minimum grade of D in English of 50-59%
- You achieved a minimum of C in Math, Physical Science, and Accounting Matrics with a range starting from 60% to 69%
- It is also okay for you to offer your NVC Level 4 Certificate with Mathematics
- Your age should range from 14-35
- You must come from a previously disadvantaged background
To be eligible for the bursary fund and a chance to finish their education, people with disabilities should apply. Each student must apply for admission to tertiary institutions; the Buffalo Metropolitan Municipality is not responsible for this.

- Submit the following documents alongside the application form. Your application will be rejected if these supporting documents are not submitted with it.
- A recent academic record from your learning institution
- A South African ID
- Proof of residency in Buffalo City
- a letter from the ward councilor confirming your municipal residence;

The application period closes on October 29, 2021.
Few shortlisted candidates must wait to hear from the hiring committee telling them to show up for the in-person interview. By not obtain any information by January 29, 2022, your application will be rejected. Applicants who are accepted have the opportunity to reapply in subsequent years based on how well they perform in each academic year.
