How To Check Spelling In Notepad 2023

UPDATE in 2023: If you are on Windows 10, you can turn on the spelling check for Notepad and other programs without the help of TinySpell or any other third-party tool. Refer to our how to turn on spell check for Notepad and WordPad in Windows 10 guide for directions.

I don't use Microsoft Office, Open Office or any other word processor to write all these posts for IntoWindows. I just use my favorite built-in notepad to get most of my work done. After writing a post, I paste it into the WordPress editor.

One thing I miss about Notepad is the spell check feature, which is a must-have for everyone. Although Notepad doesn't come with spell check by default, you can use a small free (584 KB) utility called TinySpell to get spell check functionality in Notepad and WordPad. Basically, TinySpell allows you to check and correct spelling in any application. In short, with the help of TinySpell, you can enable spell checking on any application.

Use TinySpell to enable spell check in Notepad

TinySpell watches your typing on the fly and alerts you whenever it detects a misspelled word. It can also check the spelling of the text you copy to the clipboard. After invoking TinySpell, it installs itself in the system tray for easy access. I hope you will like it.

The little utility makes the Notepad a much more useful tool as you can use it like other word processing tools. Users who often use the Notepad over other programs, grab TinySpell right away.

Tip: If you need a little better word processor but don’t want to spend a penny, try LibreOffice.
